Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Craniofacial and Surgical Care provides a diverse approach to treatment for patients with craniofacial or oral and maxillofacial conditions, including those with multiple or complex oral health problems. The Oral Medicine discipline functions within the Adams School of Dentistry and UNC Hospitals and focuses on the oral health care of medically complex patients and the diagnosis and non-surgical management of medically-related disorders or conditions affecting the oral and maxillofacial region.
Position Summary:The University of North Carolina invites applications for an open-Rank Faculty member who will serve as a Special Care/Oral Medicine attending in the Division of Craniofacial and Surgical Care at the Adams School of Dentistry and UNC Hospitals. Responsibilities include providing comprehensive oral health care to medically compromised patients in the clinic and hospital setting, participation in multi-disciplinary teams, supervision of general practice residency (GPR) residents and providing dental consultations and on call coverage of the patient population of UNC Hospitals and the Adams School of Dentistry. Numerous opportunities for collaboration exist within the dental school, UNC Hospitals, and throughout the University.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:Candidates must have a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD), or equivalent degree. Must have a certificate of completion of an Oral Medicine and/or General Practice residency program.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:The ideal candidate must have demonstrated evidence of a strong commitment to patient care, teaching, mentoring, leadership, service, and scholarship. Board eligibility is preferred. A past record of scholarly activity is desirable and the pursuit of scholarly activity is encouraged.
Campus Security Authority Responsibilities:This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
