Primary Responsibilities:

• Assuring that ineligible youth and young adults are not served using additional Federal IV-E funds and refer eligible young adults for additional programs/ services that will support transition and achievement of independent living outcomes.
• Coaching and training participants on job search, interview skills, etc.
• Coaching participants on employment requirements (hygiene, employer relations).
• Collaborating with Buncombe County DSS social workers and Child and Family Teams to ensure that individualized vocational and educational services are planned and implemented for each LINKS youth.
• Communicating with the local community college regarding participant admission into skills training classes and certificate programs.
• Consulting with Buncombe County DSS and state coordinator to develop program direction.
• Consulting with Buncombe County DSS liaison to ensure state LINKS mandates are being followed
• Developing and overseeing the youth advisory council.
• Engaging the broader community in providing a supportive learning and living environment for teens and young adults from the foster care system, which may include community partnerships in mentoring youth in jobs.
• Ensuring that eligible LINKS youth program receives access to LINKS special Funds via Buncombe County DSS.
• Providing supportive services for eligible teens and young adults and their caregivers including individualized career planning, educational planning and job placement.
• Verifying program participant eligibility.
• Working cooperatively with eligible county youth and young adults to develop and conduct a relevant and effective county LINKS program that addresses all eight LINKS outcomes and promotes successful transition to adulthood.
• Working in Microsoft Word and Excel to prepare reports as required, which may include: goal sheets, participant progress reports, and other reports.
• Working in Microsoft Word/ other programs as needed to create instruction materials, graduation materials, presentation information, event flyers and invitations, etc.
• Coordinating presenters from outside agencies (to include Goodwill) and businesses to provide job, soft skills, health, finance and employment retention skills related to participants.
• Creating and maintaining participant/ prospective participant files.
• Performing data entry of participant/ prospective participant information.
• Transporting students, as needed.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's Degree in a related field (human services) strongly preferred.

Qualifications:

• Experience in human service with a similar program population.
• Strong Microsoft Word, Outlook skills required.
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment and annual Motor Vehicle Record review.
