Timely bed placement for internal and external requests
Provide overall direction/guidance/coordination to health care providers in the achievement of patient movement
Collaborate with MD, Care Coordinator and the software system to ensure timely coordination of discharge and transfer. Ensures that patients move efficiently through the system.
Function as a department team member to support unit and hospital goals
Assist as needed with the transfer of patients to a higher or lower level of care.
Serve as contact person for bed management for any admission concerns.
Able to prioritize and perform multiple tasks effectively in a time sensitive environment to achieve optimal outcomes.
Ensure throughput on units and compliance with the transfer process.

Coordinate and collaborate with physicians, all hospital nursing units, transportation and environmental services regarding bed placement
Communicate with clinical unit nursing staff the new admission information and develop a plan for acceptance of the new admission within 30 minutes
Ensure that patients move efficiently through the system

Understand the financial impact of decisions regarding access and resource utilization
Collaborate with care coordination for appropriate status consultation when needed
Understand the delineation and definitions according to Interqual for appropriate status assignment
Ensure orders and ADT system are congruent and appropriate
Provide accurate admission source for CMS compliance purposes
Confirm bed census at least once per day for all hospital units

Manage all aspects of the Bed Tracking and Electronic Bed-board functions across the system
Promote the timely communication of ready-beds to designated units
Receive communication from the software when cleaning of empty beds do not begin within goal time and works to ensure that a cleaning resource is assigned to begin bed cleaning
Ensure communication of discharges and cleaning of beds is timely within the system

Qualifications
Education, Credentials, Licenses: BSN or BS in related field Licensed RN in state where work is being performed
Masters in Healthcare or related field
Specialized Knowledge: Excellent communication/negotiation skills Ability of work independently, interdependently and set priorities Demonstrates the ability to initiate, accept and adapt to change Possess critical thinking skills
Software implementation experience Bed Management experience Utilization Management experience
Kind and Length of Experience: Two years nursing experience including one year of Critical Care, TCU, ICU or Emergency Department experience One year of Supervisory/Management experience i.e. Charge RN, Team lead, ANM
