Description
Reporting to the Associate Director for Orientation and Pre-Orientation Programs, this position serves as an integral role of co-planning and co-executing pre-orientation and transitions programs for new students, transfer students, Oxford graduates, and other special populations.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Provides front-line, professional staff level support to student pre-orientation student staff assisting as peer advisors through the onboarding process into Emory University. This includes goal setting, assessment, budget management, program and content development, and interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Essential Functions: Co-develops and manages pre-orientation programs in alignment with the strategic plan objectives in Emory Campus Life and the university. Coordinates all facets of pre-orientation, including but not limited to, curriculum development, student mentor recruitment, selection, and training, and budget management.
  • Develops class-based transition support programs with a focus on holistic development and leadership education.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders across Emory, including faculty, academic affairs administrators, and Oxford College staff to develop programs and sustainable solutions for students transitioning from Oxford College.
  • Consults with Campus Life and Oxford College departments to develop and execute Welcome events for Oxford students. Serves as a representative on university committees as assigned. Oversees ongoing assessment processes and annual project-based reports.
  • Supports daily management of Student Involvement, Leadership, and Transitions. Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A bachelor's degree and one year of experience working in a college or university student residential environment, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. A master's degree in higher education, leadership, or other related areas is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working in student leadership development, advising, and/or programming within a student affairs setting.
  • Experience with orientation and/or transition programs is preferred. Experience leading and implementing large scale programs. Demonstrated experience with public speaking, teaching, and/or facilitation.
  • Experience working with first year students, transfer students, and students of color. Knowledge and application of student development theories with an emphasis on student programming, and diversity and inclusion.
  • Demonstrates experience with and/or commitment to inclusive communities, intercultural communication and competence, and cultural humility.

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
