MLB's S&D organization oversees five key areas:
- Strategy & Insights: Align Industry strategic direction and provide internal consulting services to League Verticals and Functions, Clubs, Office of the Commissioner
- Club Business Operations & Strategy (CBOS): Support development of Club strategies and accelerate adoption of best practices
- Corporate Development: Identify and activate inorganic growth opportunities for MLB that support our strategy and provide economic return
- Analytics: Leverage role as centralized home for data-driven-insights to advise and support Strategy, Clubs, League Verticals and Functions
- Operations & Insights: Ensure implementation and success for key strategic initiatives and serve as a centralized research organization for the League and Clubs that enhances a common understanding of our fanbase
stakeholders with data-driven solutions as we develop and refine baseball's online, offline, and in-stadium experiences. Qualified candidates will be familiar with baseball and macro trends within the sports and entertainment industry. They will be eager to leverage their technical skills to contribute to MLB's research programs and analysis. They will have a demonstrable ability to collect,
- Support MLB's business stakeholders by conducting research projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Effectively build relationships and collaborate with team members from Clubs and the League Office on research projects and initiatives
- Create presentations, data visualizations, and dashboards to communicate results to stakeholders
- Assist in building and supporting the statistical models that link fan behavior to business outcomes
- Maintain and scale the data pipelines that ensure the efficiency and reliability of deliverables to stakeholders
- Assist in design and execution of research programs, including MLB's Voice of the Consumer (VOC) and market tracking program
Required Skills:
- An undergraduate degree in an analytical field (economics, mathematics, statistics) or significant coursework in data analysis.
- Some to 2 years of professional experience (internships and academic positions count) working in an analytics or research-related field, with demonstrable examples
- Ability to coordinate and organize multiple research projects and analyses simultaneously.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of data manipulation and analysis techniques, along with relevant programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, R).
- Familiarity with baseball and macro trends within the sports and entertainment industry
Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is an hourly rate of $27.00 to $32.00. The actual offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision.
