Position Summary: Perform electrical design for industrial automation applications. Creating electrical schematics, selecting electrical components and create control panel layouts utilizing EPlan.
Primary Job Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned.
- Creates accurate and complete conceptualized, engineered, and detailed design of controls, safety, and power circuits for automation projects.
- Using EPlan and AutoCAD accurately and completely design electrical schematics, pneumatic systems, and panel layouts for automation systems per specifications.
- Create complete design specs from variety of sources including from scratch as required for projects.
- Evaluate instruments and motors for proper wiring
- Correctly applies broad knowledge of technical principles, procedures, and practices to define product concept, design schematics, layouts, bills of material (hardware selection), associated software, and wiring diagrams including safety concepts.
- Actively uses existing designs to efficiently build designs that can be re-used for similar applications in the future.
- Travel and interface with customer and resources as required to troubleshoot controls issues at customer sites in a timely manner.
- Provide timely, accurate and complete communication to Project Management and other teammates as needed for successful completion on the project.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Utilize EPlan to develop electrical schematics
- A working knowledge in the use of AutoCAD
- An ability to design and develop electrical schematics for control panel construction
- Knowledge of industry-specific processes, automated hardware applications.
- A working knowledge of the following systems is not required but considered a plus:
- Programming for Allen Bradley control systems
- Experience with DCS systems
Education/Experience:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree pertaining to electrical design or engineering.
2-7 years of experience in electrical design utilizing EPlan software.
Language Ability:
Read, analyze and interpret business, professional, technical or governmental documents. Write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and the public.
Mathematical Ability:
Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Compute rate, ratio and percent, and draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the Internet; Microsoft Office tools including MS Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. Requires knowledge of computer-aided design (AutoCAD) and its use as a design tool.
