Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and model electrical system harnessing and logic for new or replacement electromechanical functions in a CAD environment.
- Develop and document software logic in coordination with design engineers and electrical/hydraulic systems engineers to fulfill functional specifications or customer requirements.
- Prepare, review, and complete electromechanical engineering change packages and provide harness and electrical system review and markups for others to review and action.
- Design and execute electrical system development and validation test plans, develop functional test procedures/scripts, and assist in performing verification testing.
- Direct the building and troubleshooting of control system mock-ups, prototypes and test beds.
- Assist with identifying and implementing resolution of production and warranty problems.
- Assist HMI display interaction design activities.
- Assist engineering staff in gathering required information needed to support projects.
- Travel to the field and/or trade shows may be required (less than 20% of the time).
- Perform other duties, assignments, and special projects as required.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required; A degree in one of the following engineering disciplines is preferred: Electrical, Controls, Mechanical, Agricultural, Automotive or Mechatronics.
- Minimum two (2) - five (5) years’ experience as an electrical engineer, software development engineer or calibration development engineer required.
- Experience within the industrial, automotive or agricultural industry preferred.
- Proficient in the design and troubleshooting of electrical harnessing preferred
- Proficient with CAD environments such as NX, Solidworks, Pro/Engineer, or related tool preferred.
- Proficient with a graphical controls logic development environment tool such as CODESYS (preferred), IQAN, Simulink, or related tool required.
- Experience with automotive communication links required; experience with CAN/LIN, SAE J1939 preferred.
- Thorough understanding of electromechanical system design, troubleshooting and repair required.
- Ability to independently perform data acquisition, analysis and statistical methods required.
- Experience in successfully working with a cross-functional team with a variety of skills is critical.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of tools.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to clearly articulate the problem resolution and results to customers, key work partners and top management.
- Experience in automotive or mobile machinery system controls (braking, steering, powertrain) preferred.
- Understanding of electric vehicles and high voltage systems a plus.
- Experience working with a release database for submitting Engineering Change Requests and Design Changes a plus.
- Experience with JD Edwards is preferred.
