As the Controller for middle market Private Equity Firm investing in engineered solution companies in the medical, industrial, and aerospace & defense sectors, you will report to the CFO and be a key member in the day-to-day activities of the funds' accounting, reporting, and operational processes. The ideal candidate will have a background in Private Equity Funds and Investment Entities.
The position involves overseeing the financial operations, accounting processes, reporting, and specific operational and compliance functions for the firm's funds and investment entities. It is a key role in maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial data, requiring close collaboration with various teams within the firm.
Required Skills & Experience :
- 5+ years of accounting to include a strong background in Private Equity Fund and Investment Accounting
- Excellent technical accounting skills with detailed understanding of GAAP standards
- Deep experience working with complex Private Equity fund allocations and building models in Excel.
- Demonstrated experience managing the entire close process (end to end)
- Strong business acumen, viewed as trusted advisor by key business stakeholders.
- Demonstrates robust leadership skills, excelling in coaching, mentoring, and developing others while motivating teams to deliver high-quality work within tight timelines and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exhibits a self-starter personality, adept at embracing technology and discerning its potential to drive decision-making and process improvements.
- QuickBooks and Concur experience.
- Asset management audit or tax experience
- SEC compliance experience, including annual and periodic reviews and filings.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversee accounting and financial reporting for diverse Private Equity funds and investment entities.
- Coordinate treasury management, including capital call and distribution notices, bank transactions, and loan covenant requirements.
- Facilitate annual audits with external auditors and the fund administrator, ensuring accurate tracking of fund performance data and timely updates in Cobalt.
- Manage complex tasks such as tax planning, shadow waterfalls, portfolio companies' capitalization tables, and investor portal maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with fund documentation, investor reporting requirements, and SEC compliance program.
- Demonstrate professionalism in handling confidential matters, lead professional development, and maintain organized document filing.
- Support Lean Manufacturing principles, continuous process improvement initiatives, and contribute to special projects as needed.
