Qualified candidates for the Controller role this expanding Garden City based non-profit will have five or more years related experience in a complex healthcare organization with strong knowledge of Medicaid funding. The Controller will be responsible for oversight of accounting and finance functions, administration of accounting policies and preparation of various analyses to support the leadership team in furthering the mission of the agency. QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field required
- Five+ years related experience in a complex healthcare organization with strong knowledge of Medicaid funding
- Knowledge and experience in fund accounting systems
- Advanced aptitude in the use of computer software, including but not limited to General Ledger/ Accounting Software, payroll software and Microsoft Excel
- Experience with OPWDD required
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
- Directly supervise payroll, accounts payable, purchasing and general accounting staff
- Function as the primary accounting manager of the agency
- Manage daily cash-flow with monthly reporting schedules.
- Manage the monthly financial closing process, including allocations and ensure compliance with GAAP based accrual accounting.
- Review journal entries, account analysis and other aspects of the financial closing process
- Lead and coordinate the annual independent audit process, filing of corporate tax returns, and required reporting to funding sources.
- Offer support and prepare schedules for the Consolidated Fiscal Report Preparation and the fiscal year budget.
- Work with payroll processing software company to fully utilize the system and its functions.
- Create payroll reports as needed (related to Overtime, PTO Accruals, and employee census reports)
- Update and/or establish policy and procedures as needed.
- Evaluate effectiveness of all department functions on an ongoing basis, modifying systems as needed.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
