Responsible for taking on a leadership role in financial decision-making that affects operations of AAR Aircraft Component Services - New York operations with $50M annual sales volume and providing strategic financial input to management. While keenly overseeing the overall accounting process, the successful candidate will play a key role in developing and implementing financial procedures to maintain and improve the financial health of our company. AAR is looking for a Candidate with strong leadership and interpersonal skills to effectively manage the business. Experience with government contracts and program accounting preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with the business unit General Manager to provide financial insights and analytics that assist with strategic decisions.
- Position has full responsibility for coordinating, consolidating, and developing an Annual Plan and routine forecasts.
- Evaluates and recommends course of action for the short and long-term impact of changes to mix, volume, headcount, investment and budget for AAR Aircraft Component Services - New York operations.
- Reviews and makes decisions on investment requests by performing return on investment calculations for all projects.
- Provide accounting support on complex transactions to senior leadership, including Group CFO and Corporate Controller.
- Seek for and support cost improvement opportunities. Be an active contributor to improvement projects and initiatives. Validate and review proposed savings.
- Lead the month-end accounting close process and effectively communicate insights and results to senior management. Promptly provide reporting of monthly financial performance metrics such as: program performance, headcount tracking, variance analysis and SG&A spending.
- Develop and maintain a financial organization capable of meeting business unit and Corporate requirements. Responsible for development, mentoring, performance management, and engagement of a staff of three employees.
- Assure all reporting requirements are met for management and regulatory agencies as required by law and in accordance with company policies.
- Ensure accounting operations and controls are effectively and efficiently performed.
- Work collaboratively with Corporate shared services (Credit, accounts payable, treasury, etc.) to improve processes.
- Coordinate and be key contact for internal and external audits.
- Prepare ad hoc requests.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; or eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Master's degree a plus.
- CPA required.
- Salary $130K to 150K
