Control Engineer

AlphaHire is actively seeking a seasoned Senior Electrical/Controls Engineer for our Atlanta, GA branch. This role is essential for providing hands-on electrical and controls engineering expertise in project design, commissioning, and start-up. The position involves reporting to client sites in Atlanta and requires approximately 10-15% travel to out-of-state client sites, including occasional weekend work.

Responsibilities:

• Apply engineering principles to enhance existing processes and develop new ones, collaborating with various clients, vendors, and consultants. Projects will primarily focus on process systems and some packaging systems across industries like food & beverage and chemicals.
• Handle all facets of electrical controls project execution, either independently or as part of a team. This includes control system design, controls programming, project documentation, and site start-up support of integrated systems.
• Responsible for creating or upgrading PLC and HMI control systems, generating electrical schematics, designing control panels, and producing electrical installation bid packages. Also, oversee related installation activities.
• Deliver projects on aggressive schedules while maintaining accuracy and adhering to strict safety standards.

Qualifications:

• B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Over 10 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience in a consultant role and hands-on project execution.
• Eagerness to research new equipment, processes, and technologies.
• Energetic, positive, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
• Supervisory experience in fabrication and installation activities.
• Expertise in supporting production start-ups to meet operational and functional project requirements.
• Experience in the food/beverage/chemical industries is preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, and Word.
• Skilled in designing industrial control systems, including Electrical Control panel design, Electrical Schematics, MCC layouts, etc.
• Experience in designing and troubleshooting Rockwell VFDs.
• Proficiency in specifying field devices and sensors.
• Expertise in PLCs such as Rockwell Automations ControlLogix/CompactLogix, PLC 5, and SLC.
• Skilled in HMI/SCADA systems like FTView, iFix, Wonderware, etc.
• Experience in designing and troubleshooting communication networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, ASi, ModBus, etc.).
• Proficiency in designing & tuning PID control loops.
• Familiarity with S88 and S95 control software design is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills and a strong sense of professional ethics.

Essential Functions:

• Ability to physically navigate manufacturing environments, including climbing ladders and walking over crossovers.
• Capable of walking from parking lots to job areas and throughout large manufacturing plants as needed.
• Must pass pre-employment screenings, including drug tests, background checks, and motor vehicle reports, as per company and client policies.
