Job Description
The Control Center Intern will support the Pre-Operations Manager at EDPR NA, with a focus on evaluating NERC Compliance. The work undertaken during the internship will include NERC compliance support for NERC Operations and Maintenance Standards.
This is a paid 10-week, full-time internship that will start on or around June 2024, with an end date in August 2024.
Main Accountabilities:- Supporting EDPR NA’s Compliance Program for NERC Standards MOD-026 & 027, MOD-032 standard tracker for EDPR NA power plants
- Supporting various NERC Compliance audit tasks for Control Center
- Garner hands-on experience through relevant projects and assignments
- Assist with NERC audit preparation and data requests fulfillment
- Collaborate with ProjectWise Associate to move MOD/PRC evidence into respective ProjectWise Portal.
- Garner hands-on experience through relevant projects and assignments
- Bring a creative and optimistic attitude to the world of renewable energy
- Participate in Summer Intern events and volunteerism
- Learn about the U.S. energy industry and apply knowledge to various projects
- Attend weekly 'lunch and learn' department presentation meetings
- Provide support to designated department and department managers
- Prepare a PowerPoint presentation to present results of efforts
- Assist in administrative tasks as needed
- Additional duties may be required
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (in Junior year or higher) or post-graduate program; in Electrical Engineering with power systems emphasis.
- Proficient with electrical drawings
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise preferred
- 0-2 years of experience with power systems simulation software such as PSCAD, PSS/E, TSAT, PSLF is preferred
- Strong analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated and eager to learn
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced and collaborative working environment
- Possess excellent attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment
- Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
- Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds
- Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
