In this role, the Software Engineer will support critical real-time software applications mainly in System Operations and other areas within the company, as well as:
* Ensure availability, functionality and usability of internal data processing and data management software applications for various internal teams, problem solving and troubleshooting as needed.
* Deliver exceptional and real-time solutions and internal customer service when applications don’t function as needed or expected.
Qualifications:
We’re seeking candidates with a wide range of skills who are motivated to solve complex problems with many potential variables while aligning with our core values: Integrity, Community, Safety, Resourcefulness, Customer Service and People. Some examples of what we’re looking for include:
* Flexibility and adaptability to shift priorities and resources to meet varying end user and departmental needs and goals.
* Range of knowledge and experience with software databases, programming languages such as C#, SQL, and OpenEdge ABL/Progress and client/server applications - power system, transmission and energy scheduling concepts are beneficial.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills to facilitate collaboration between varied teams and provide internal customer service.
* Post-secondary degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
* Willingness and ability to travel overnight and provide support during non-core (9-5) hours. * There’s a lot of innovation in our industry and we want positive, can-do people who are resilient through the challenges that sometimes come with change.
