Position Summary

The continuous Improvement Manager will support the division's GM and AGM in the achievement of the division's financial and operational objectives. Lead a cross-functional team to implement continuous improvement activities in a division based on our Magna Factory Concept (Mafact). Responsible for conducting Mafact assessments and creating an improvement plan.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize improvement and analysis methods such as, time and motion studies, inventory reduction, Value Stream Mapping, Lean Thinking, 5S, facility design, work cell design, performance measurement, benchmarking, financial analysis, and cost justification.
  • Conduct and facilitate kaizen workshops with plant personnel to understand current processes and challenges, to encourage input and jointly develop solutions.
  • Define and manage multiple operational improvement initiatives concurrently.
  • Oversee, direct and manage all continuous improvement projects on site.
  • Training the necessary problem-solving techniques on site.
  • Provide support to management teams to facilitate significant improvement activities during periods of plant underperformance, critical launches, special projects, etc. to ensure productivity, efficiency, quality and profit objectives are met.
  • Development and implementation of the required Mafact (Magna Factory Concept) standards.
  • Responsible for the achievement of the group goals in the annual Mafact audit.
  • Participate with other Magna groups on Mafact calibration audits and support Magna corporate strategy development and deployment.
  • Monitor progress of launch readiness KPI's.
  • Work with the Program Managers and Launch Managers to ensure a smooth transition from product development / APQP to serial production
  • Lead lean capex review of all major equipment purchases.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of work and education.
  • Minimum of 8 years of Continuous Improvement experience with record of significant results.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience, preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Possess excellent leadership abilities.
  • Possess excellent project management skills.
  • Extensive experience with lean manufacturing concepts (Lean, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, VSM, Standardized work, etc.).
  • Certification in Six Sigma and/or Red X is preferred.
  • Ability to train others in how to effectively use problem solving tools.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with ability to interact effectively with all employee levels in a positive, cooperative, and productive manner.
  • Strong sense of time management with ability to manage high workload and meet deadlines.
  • Independent, targeted and structured way of working.
  • Strong proficiency in the Microsoft suite of tools such as Word, Excel, Visio, Power Point, Share Point, etc.
  • Must have the ability to exercise initiative in finding improvement opportunities and ways of meeting company KPI's.
  • Customer-focused in defining quality and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to travel within North America, Europe and Asia as needed.
  • Valid Driver's License & Valid passport.
