SUMMARY
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The contractor will research, write, and edit technical scientific stories, strategic outreach materials, technology transition reports and content related to strategic partnerships.
- Produce clear, concise, accurate and engaging content that appeals to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- The contractor will collaborate with subject matter experts to gather information and insights for content development. Work will require editing and proofreading written materials for clarity, coherence, and adherence to DAF guidelines. Attend various AFOSR meetings to capture notes from partnership discussions and engagements.
- Produce content that is error-free, grammatically correct, and aligned with established standards.
- Manage content resources, reports, notes, transition stories, in support of AFOSR’s partnership and transition objectives in designated AFOSR systems.
- Provide data entry of technical transition stories, partnership successes, and meeting events for historical reference and data transition metrics.
- Created “products” will include a broad array of technical writing scientific success stories to include but not be limited to, transition reports, technology impact reports, partnerships, collaboration meetings, after-action event reports, interview summaries of principal investigators and subject matter experts, integrated analytical partnership reports, partnership highlight reports, talking points, white papers, strategic outreach briefings & materials and an internal monthly newsletters
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Certifications
- No professional certification will be required.
Education, Background, and Years of Experience
- Associates degree or higher in English, Journalism, Communications, or related discipline.
- 1+ years’ experience in a profession writing position such as Technical or Content Writer, Editor, Journalist, etc.
- Strong writing skills: Ability to communicate complex research findings in a clear and engaging manner.
- Research proficiency: Capability to understand and summarize diverse topics without requiring advanced technical expertise.
- Excellent organizational skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently.
- Adaptability: Willingness to learn and write about various subjects, adjusting writing style as needed.
- Attention to detail: Ensure accuracy and consistency in written content, adhering to agency guidelines.
- Strong communication skills: Collaborate effectively with researchers, presenting information in a comprehensible way.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe document creation/editing products, diagramming tools (Visio), and basic content management systems.
Preferred Skills
- Interest and experience in writing about basic scientific topics and research
- Comfortable working and collaborating with people at all levels of the organization
WORKING CONDITIONS
Environmental Conditions
- The employee will generally sit at a computer during the business day which therefore makes the work sedentary in nature. No significant lifting is expected.
Strength Demands
- Light – 20 lbs. Maximum lifting with frequent lift/carry up to 10 lbs. A job is light if less lifting is involved but significant walking/standing is done or if done mostly sitting but requires push/pull on arm or leg controls.
