SUMMARY:
The Content Creator plays a crucial role in developing and managing various forms of digital content. They are responsible for coordinating and creating content for the organization’s social media channels including: creating/assisting in the creation of written, video, and photo content; moderating and responding to responses across social channels; maintaining a unified voice across all platforms and assisting in other areas of the organization.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Social Media
- Communicate the brand in a positive, authentic way that will attract potential adopters, donors, visitors, and volunteers, while maintaining brand awareness and positive online reputation
- Implement strategy by creating engaging, inspiring, and compelling story content (written, video, and photo) following guidelines set forth by the Refuge
- Collaborate in the development of a social media calendar for all platforms
- Engage with our online community by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Foster meaningful interactions with our supporters, volunteers, and donors
- Capture the unique stories of our rescue animals, highlighting their journey from rescue to adoption. Share stories that evoke empathy, inspire action, and showcase the impact of our organization's work
- Maintain brand consistency and integrity across all content and communications. Ensure that our messaging reflects our mission, values, and strategic objectives
Supportive Roles / Responsibilities
This position is also required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, and additional duties as necessary and assigned.
- Attend fundraising or adoption events (to promote on social media)
- Coordinate and assist in the approval and marketing of community events, including gathering materials, event setup/management as needed, and volunteer requests
- Participate in appropriate meetings as requested
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or similar field preferred
- Experience with working in a shelter environment is preferred
- Minimum of two years’ experience in customer service-related field
- Proficiency with content creation across social platforms including Facebook (including stories), Instagram (stories and reels), YouTube, TikTok, and Twitter
- Familiarity with social media best practices Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Hootsuite, WordPress, Canva, Photoshop (or other image editing software), video editing software (FinalCut Pro, iMovie, or similar)

CLASSIFICATION
Non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)POSITION TYPE
Typical work hours are between 8 AM and 4:30 PM. Weekend and holiday shifts expected. Due to the cyclical nature of the industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to meet the needs of the business. Attendance at training sessions and meetings is required. Occasional travel is required to rescue locations in the area, community events, etc.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work tasks are performed indoors and outdoors. Temperatures will vary based on the seasons and Florida climate. Internal work will be conducted in a climate-controlled environment. Most functions require sedentary work in an office environment utilizing computer and phones for most of day. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
