Description
Assists Consumer Loan Officers with the processing and origination of loan requests with a focus on either direct or inDirect Loan applications; counsel's members regarding appropriate financial planning and practices; makes certain that members receive superior quality of service in line with the "close and caring touch" described in SLFCU's mission statement.
Job Duties:
- Process loans initiated from either the lending origination system (direct) or from third party partners (indirect) and perform the following:
- Verify loan files for accuracy, completeness and to ensure compliance with all federal and state requirements. Information verified includes interest rate, collateral value, payment calculation, payment schedule.
- Input loan data into system.
- Analyze supporting documentation, utilize credit reports to verify accuracy of loan application, and forward non-automated response loans to Loan Officer for underwriting.
- Verify and inspect collateral offered. Calculate loan payments, determine loan to value (LTV) and make loan changes to secure a clear lien position.
- Direct lending duties also include:
- Act as primary contact for member post-funding to verify loan status, work with vendors on completion of funding and MVD process.
- Book and fund loans.
- Process and review loan applications through the MVD Now process. Duties include:
- Collect necessary documents required for vehicle title transfer.
- Run MVR to determine the status of the vehicle title.
- Send completed MVD Now package to Loan Services.
- Document and file loan applications to secure the Credit Union's collateral.
- Indirect lending duties also include:
- Verify dealer reserve fees and promotional charges.
- Open new membership accounts as needed.
- Act as primary contact for vendor to verify current membership and/or pre-approved loan status.
- Fund completed loan requests.
- Provide a superior member experience by:
- Actively listening to and assessing the needs of the member
- Explaining the features and benefits of targeted products and services
- Offering targeted solutions to meet the member's needs
- Conducting callbacks to members
- Recognize and act upon potential membership and service opportunities to promote membership growth and loyalty.
- Inform members on loan policies, payment processes, and loan rates.
- Strive to exceed the Credit Union's sales and service goals through the development and maintenance of member relationships. Cross-sell mortgage and commercial products to members when appropriate.
Requirements
Experience and Knowledge:
- Minimum two years' experience* working in a financial institution with exposure to consumer loans. * Experience requirement may be shortened (to no less than a year) if some or all prior experience has been gained within the Consumer Lending Department. Prior experience interviewing borrowers and originating/underwriting loans preferred.
- Good understanding and knowledge of lending laws and regulations.
- Exhibits ability to compare SLFCU products to products in the marketplace and cross-sell effectively.
- Thorough knowledge of Credit Union products and services, features, and benefits.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; demonstrates ability to learn and effectively utilize in house programs and third-party lending software.
Education:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Salary Description
$19.54 - $24.43/Hour (DOE)
