Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides consultation, training of and assistance to Nurse Practitioners while managing their own client caseload. The position is responsible for ensuring a high quality of care is being provided to our clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures all clinical practices meet relevant professional and ethical standards and adheres to applicable federal and state regulations.
- Serves as an educational resource to the client/family, Leadership Team, Nurse Practitioners, support staff, and clinical team.
- Acts as mentor to support the development of Nurse Practitioners.
- Involved in the hiring process of Nurse Practitioners.
- Involved in the training of Nurse Practitioners on utilizing the Electronic Health Record, writing prescriptions, lab orders and prior authorization process.
- Develops and implements Medication Management policies and standard operating procedures.
- Works with the Senior Leadership Team on strategic planning.
- Audit records as clinically needed to ensure quality of care is being provided.
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations to assess client’s mental health conditions.
- Formulate accurate diagnoses and treatment plans based on clinical assessment, history, and client input.
- Assess client for suicide and other self-harm.
- Assist in managing psychiatric crisis, providing support to clients in crisis situations.
- Collaborate with emergency services as needed for client safety.
- Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, monitoring their efficacy and side effects.
- Educate clients about medication compliance and potential risks.
- Administer evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy or dialectical-behavior therapy, as appropriate.
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals to coordinate client care.
- Provide client education on mental health conditions, medication management, coping strategies, and wellness.
- Utilize CFS’s Electronic Health Record and all web-based programs which would include prescribing medication.
- Complete the necessary prior authorization paperwork for insurance companies.
- Complete lab orders.
- Complete external paperwork as needed for the client’s care, such as FMLA, referral, disability and etc.
- Participate in networking efforts and community engagement.
- Seeks out supervision and case consultation as needed.
- Address any concerns or questions clients may have regarding their treatment.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Submit billing and coding information in a timely and accurate manner.
- Stay current with the latest developments in psychiatric care, treatments, and best practices.
- Dedication to promoting and upholding the organizations’ purpose, promises and values.
- Maintain professional liability coverage with CFS named as an additional insured throughout employment.
- Attend leadership and NP meetings as needed.
- Collaborates with the client experience manager.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

- Willingness to be licensed in multiple states where CFS has/or will have an office.
- Facilitate meetings.
- Commitment to continuing medical education and professional development, and a willingness to keep up to date with the latest developments in medical research and practice.
- Knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations in all states CFS has a site or will have a site, and adherence to relevant legal and ethical guidelines in psychiatric care.
- Proficient in the use of computers and word processing software.
Education:
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing.
- Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Willingness to be licensed in multiple states where CFS has/or will have an office.
- Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) through the ANCC
Experience:
- Minimum of five years of experience as a PMHNP-BC in a psychiatric setting(s).
- Minimum of two years of management experience.
- Minimum of two years of training facilitation and development experience preferred.
- Minimum of two years of process development experience preferred.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations and a wide range of psychiatric disorders, including but not limited to mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, and ADHD.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of medication management and prescribing psychotropic medications.
- Working experience in various evidence-based psychotherapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical-behavior therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Record systems to maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with documentation requirements.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations, including those related to the prescription of controlled substances and compliance with healthcare laws and policies.
Other Condition:
- Must be willing to travel as often as needed
- Authorized to work in the US
