Industrial Construction Supervisor
Compensation: $100k (flexible)
Location: Upper Midwest - REMOTE POSITION
Our client is looking for a detail-oriented, proactive, highly organized self-starter with a background in municipal and/or industrial wastewater treatment construction management, looking to further a career in construction/project management/coordination in the sustainable infrastructure field. Direct experience with wastewater treatment technologies and anaerobic digestion is highly desired.
Reporting to the Regional Project Manager, the role will manage all aspects of the late-stage development, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover of the company's wastewater treatment assets. Ensure all obligations for all parties on a given project from pre-construction through to operations are met and the projects stay on scope, schedule, and budget.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- • Act as the Company agent, monitoring site construction activities and ensuring adherence to contract requirements by all contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
- • Perform daily inspections to verify construction is being performed in accordance with approved codes, laws, ordinances, regulations, and standards.
- • Read and interpret construction plans and specifications and verify contractor compliance to approved contract construction documents.
- • Verify contractor compliance with safety and housekeeping procedures, including but not limited to material delivery and storage, waste management, and erosion control.
- • Maintain clear, concise, and comprehensive records related to inspection activities including preparation and filing of daily inspection reports. Document substandard work, safety violations, etc.; coordinate with the Engineering team to prescribe corrective actions; and ensure and document implementation of corrective actions.
- • Record, file, and process construction-related documentation including but not limited to Material and Equipment Submittals, Requests for Information (RFI), and Change Order Requests.
- Interface with contractor Project Managers, engineers, superintendents, supervisors, and laborers through participation in regular project meetings and daily site interaction.
- • Provide periodic (i.e., weekly) updates to the Project Manager regarding project schedule and budget and provide immediate notice regarding urgent matters.
- • Participate in contractor selection.
- • Understand site-specific design details and support engineering review and required updates to the previously approved design and engineering plans.
- • Oversight of construction permitting.
- • Identify, track, manage, and report on project risks.
- • Support oversight of submittal/ shop drawing review/approval process.
- • Attend construction progress meetings,
- • Support the Project Manager with the construction-level budgets and progress payments, including internal reporting and forecasting.
- • Ensure project quality control by coordinating on-site inspections, coordinating with 3rd party providers, if necessary.
- • Act as the internal subject matter expert on all aspects of construction.
- • Update or review internal data systems and ensure all construction-level documentation is accurate.
- • Coordinate after-action reviews/lessons learned/continuous improvement.
- • Assist with the development of internal operating policies, standards, and procedures.
- • Manage or support formal Electrical/Mechanical/Functional Test Acceptance during commissioning.
- • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Certifications:
- • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or combination of education and work experience & certifications
- • Three (3) or more years experience in construction project management, with significant exposure to wastewater projects and/or anaerobic digestion and/or industrial processing and respective technologies preferred
- • Management or supervision of construction projects in concurrence with ongoing operating manufacturing/industrial processing operations
- • PMP & OSHA 10/30 certifications preferred, or relevant training and certifications such as prior/current trade licensure.
- • Familiarity with comprehensive CM software
Physical Requirements:
- • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
- • Positions operate in several different environments which include a professional office and field environment.
- • Regular travel required, up to 75%.
