Construction Laborer – Underground & Heavy Highway Construction

Don Wartko Construction, Inc., (“DWC”) is a premier construction company based in Northeast Ohio and is seeking a self-motivated and disciplined laborer with plumbing experience. DWC has been in business for over 50 years and specializes in underground utility and heavy highway construction.

We are seeking an experienced laborer with plumbing experience. Experience in natural gas work and/or heavy highway construction is a plus. Travel through Northeast Ohio will be required; however, employees do not remain on the job site overnight.

Education and Experience

• A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 1 year of construction experience.
• Lift and maneuver up to 70 pounds overhead on a daily basis.
• Work in extreme weather conditions.
• Must be able to pass a background check, pre-employment drug screen, and random drug screens.
• Valid Driver's License.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Identify utilities in the bore path when marked and also identify any possible utilities that are not marked.
• Saw cutting.
• Assist in digging trenches, pits, and potholing manually or using mechanical equipment when necessary.
• Assists in the assembly of back reaming and pull back with the directional drill.
• Assist with clean-up of the job site.
• Maintain and properly use all associated tooling.
• Following instructions for other tasks provided by the site foreman and superintendent.
• Candidate must consider safety to themselves and crew members the top priority.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Candidate must be able to work in a team setting or individually and be willing to help complete tasks around the job site as needed. The Candidate would follow all safety procedures and notify the foreman and Superintendent of hazards in the workplace.

Pay Rate and Benefits

The candidate must be a member of the Laborer’s Union or be willing to become a member. Pay will be determined based on experience in line with the Laborers Union’s current pay rate. Benefits, including insurance, pension, and disability are provided through membership with the Laborer’s Union. Paid qualification training is available to employees.

Pay: $29.51 - $36.28 per hour
