ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Construction Laborer digs ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes.
- Haul and hoist materials
- Load and unload trucks
- Mix, pour, and spread concrete, asphalt, or gravel
- The Construction Laborer cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
- The Construction Laborer reads and interprets plans, instructions, and specifications to determine work activities.
- The Construction Laborer controls traffic passing near, in, and around work zones.
- The Construction Laborer signals equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
- The Construction Laborer measures, marks, and records openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed.
- Clean the construction site to eliminate possible hazards
- Dig ditches and excavations for foundations
- Drive stakes
- Clean tools and equipment
- Grind, sand, and polish surfaces
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Construction equipment operators work outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma
This is a Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol tested position. This position is subject to Federal drug testing requirements which includes testing for substances including but not limited to marijuana.
