Job Description

Responsible for a variety of duties focusing on estimating and bidding on construction projects for a General Contractor. The areas of focus will include plan takeoffs, estimating, field site visits, creation of scopes of work, spreadsheet and database work, review, and corrections. This role focuses on governmental construction projects emphasizing Job Order Contracting (JOC) also known as IDIQ projects for public agencies (cities, municipalities, school districts, or potentially state funded construction projects).

Duties and responsibilities

• Construct estimating proposals using RS Means Online Software.
• Execute take-offs of construction documents by utilizing Blue Beam.
• Review and interpret blueprints and technical construction documents and understand scope of work to bid.
• Coordinates with Bid Coordinator and or Subcontractors to solicit proposals on specific scopes of work.
• Prepares cost analysis in computer by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items.
• Where predetermined standard(s) are not available, make judgement related estimates by analyzing historical data and resourcing information to estimate quantifiable characteristics of the project.
• Develops and maintains resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
• Creates project schedules to estimate project durations.
• Attending departmental meetings.

Education and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or Equivalent Commercial construction estimating experience.
• Three to five years of related experience or training within either a specialized trade or a general construction environment.
• Three to five years of take-offs experience.
• Experience with estimation industry technology and databases to include 1 year minimum experience using RS Means estimation software.
• At least one year of experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, MS Project) as well as Bluebeam or other takeoff software.
• Proficient in reading construction drawings/ documents.
• Strong attention to detail with a dedication to accuracy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to analyze large sets of data.
• Team player that operates well in a small dynamic team environment.
• Experience estimating government projects.
• Willing to pass a post-offer drug screen, background, and reference check.

Position Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Actual hours may fluctuate based on the actual needs of the estimating team to meet deadlines and deliverables on any given project.




Travel:

Minimal travel is expected for this position for occasional worksite visits.
