General Description of Position:
The Junior Estimator will bid and complete estimates for Heavy Civil and Single Family (subdivision road and utility) infrastructure projects. They have extensive knowledge of Civil construction means/methods, project schedules and costs. The estimator will be a self-starter and possess the ability to meet critical deadlines.
Responsibilities: Kev Responsibilities:
- Prepare bids, select vendors/subcontractors and estimate 'self-performed' crew compositions
- and production rates.
- Make scope of work determinations and perform quantity take-offs.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with clients.
- 100% detailed understanding of project scope.
- Communicate and collaborate with wide range of individuals, including both Operations and other Estimating team members.
Requirements:
- A desire to learn and grow
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Building Science, Civil Engineering or related field.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Heavy Civil construction. Specifically, earthwork, underground water, underground wastewater, underground drainage and street/highway construction.
- Experience with self-perform work.
- Sound organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
- Experience with Agtek Earthwork take-off software is preferred.
- Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid estimating software is preferred.
- Willingness to work in a team environment.
