Position Overview
The Estimator position will be responsible for quantifying materials needed for construction, maintaining accurate take-off data, and conducting on-site material audits. They will work directly with the local purchasing teams to ensure material variances are eliminated while identifying cost savings measures via constructability or new products. The Estimator will coordinate with engineers and truss designers alongside the architectural team.
What You Will Do
- Develop and maintain accurate take-offs by plan
- Assist local purchasing teams with take-off management in Brix
- Conduct field audits by plan or by project to ensure materials are being utilized per take-offs
- Organize and conduct prototype walks as needed
- Collaborate and coordinate with the architectural team on installation details
- Conduct Variance reports to validate/adjust material shortages
- Establish and maintain a take-off challenge process for day-to-day use with the construction team
- Provide take-off training to internal and external staff as needed
- Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned
- Occasional travel may be necessary as needed
- Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned by management
- Must be able to complete all physical requirements of this role with or without a reasonable accommodation
Ideally, you'll have
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
- Must have at least five (5) years of estimating
- Proficiency in construction-related software applications such as Brix and PlanSwift
- Proven ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines, often with frequent interruptions and changing circumstances in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment
- Strong communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills
You'll crush it if you have experience with
- Construction materials
- Take-off and construction building techniques
- Take-off management software to include Excel
- Blueprints including architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and landscape
