Position Details
ABOUT OUR JOB
The Computerized Maintenance Managment System Technician I is responsible for supporting the Maintenance Management Team with the coordination and tracking of all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of fleet, facilities, and assets within their assigned division. This position is responsible for working closely with superintendents to coordinate day-to-day maintenance activities to achieve production goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assists the Maintenance Management Team and provides continuous support to the division for Predictive and Preventive Maintenance (PPM) of system components based on historical usage data.
  • Works under the direction of the division superintendent and with various supervisors to coordinate day-to-day scheduled and unscheduled maintenance actions. Monitors their division's daily production goals.
  • Utilizes, updates, and maintains the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)-CityWorks database to centralize maintenance information and facilitate maintenance operations in their division.
  • Ensures accurate documentation of division actions in the CMMS. Ensures that CMMS routines are in place and information entered into the CMMS is accurately processed.
  • Works with the Maintenance Management Team to maintain a database of support documentation to include operations & maintenance manuals, as-builts, work orders, and task descriptions for equipment/assets within CMMS. Supports IT in managing upgrades, testing, and outages of CMMS systems for the division.
  • Assists management in identifying relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and generates tracking reports on a regular basis.
  • Performs initial data collection and customizes reporting as requested by the management team.
  • Performs routine data validation checks to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Analyzes data in the interest of trend analysis and works with supervisors to assess maintenance actions to ensure maximum efficiency and provide process improvements.
  • Tracks incoming and outgoing maintenance inventory.
  • Collaborates with management and Geographic Information System (GIS) to create an interface with CMMS.
  • Assists management in the promotion and participation of the division's health, environment, safety, and security programs to ensure compliance with established policies and objectives.

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and
  • (2) two years of asset Management System administration, maintenance, and/or operations experience.
  • A combination of education and experience deemed appropriate to fulfill the role and responsibilities of this position will be considered.
  • Must obtain and possess a valid driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days from the date of hire.
  • To be successful, The incumbent should also possess experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System - City Works, production control/ scheduling, and generation of work orders to achieve day-to-day production goals

Flexible Spending Accounts - Flexible Spending Account (FSA) is a tax-saving tool that lets you pay for medical or dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars. Employees who wish to participate can use these funds to pay for Medical, Dental, Vision, and other healthcare-related expenses.
Coverage for Health, Dental, Vision, and Flexible Spending Accounts starts on the first of the month following the employee's start date.
Retirement Plan
The City of Rapid City participates in the South Dakota Retirement System (SDRS). The South Dakota Retirement System (SDRS) is a cost-sharing, multiple employers, public employee retirement system. Members of SDRS include full-time employees of State City and County Governments and other public entities. Through this pension plan, employees contribute 6% (8% for public safety) with the City matching that percentage in contribution. The vesting schedule through SDRS is 3 years. Retirement benefits are payable for the member's lifetime.
The City also offers additional retirement options through South Dakota Retirement System Supplemental Retirement Program. Employees are automatically enrolled and contribute to a 457 (b) at $25 monthly. This supplemental program is a great opportunity to save additional funds on top of the main SDRS account and allows contributors to save more on a pre-tax or post-tax basis.
Paid Time Off
Vacation - At the start of employment through the first four years City employees accrue vacation at the rate of 3.08 hours per pay period equaling 80.08 hours yearly. Vacation accruals increase with longevity.
Sick Leave - City Employees earn Sick Leave which is accrued at the rate of 2.16 hours per pay period, with unlimited rollover.
Short-Term Disability - City employees earn short-term disability leave at a rate of 2.16 hours per pay period with unlimited rollover. This benefit is paid at 100% of the employee's wage at the time of usage. Restrictions apply.
Holidays - The City of Rapid City observes 11 Holidays per calendar year. City employees are eligible for paid holidays starting at the beginning of employment. Floating holidays are given to City Employees based on their union contract.
Life Insurance
The City partners with MetLife to provide a $35,000 basic life, accident, and D&D insurance policy for employees. Optional coverage for spouse and dependent(s) can be elected.

The City partners with AFLAC to provide additional insurance coverage. From a traditional Cancer policy, Accident, Critical Illness, and Hospital, to additional Short-Term Disability and Life insurance coverages, they have what you need. The coverages are transferable and premiums can be payroll deducted.
