Provide technical support for approximately 200 users via phone, email and in person.
Answer trouble calls for classified and unclassified computer, printer, network, software, and various computer related equipment.
Conduct computer equipment inventories.
Coordinate with NMCI and upper Echelons to refresh/replace old computer equipment.
Serve as liaison between the NMCI (Navy and Marine Corps Intranet) Help Desk and command personnel.
Coordinate with NMCI for repair of building network outages.
Coordinate with XEROX and NMCI for printer repair.
Request computer infrastructure equipment and installation from upper Echelons, such as building wiring, wall jacks, routers and switches, etc.
Create/deactivate classified and unclassified accounts for users in NET (NMCI Enterprise tool).
Uses NET to request software installs, account transfers and computer/network equipment orders, create CLINS, buildouts, submit move/add/change requests and update Task Orders.
Provide user authorization access to share drive, command distribution lists and the command SharePoint portal.
Research user and computer issues in active directory,
Creates and revokes classified tokens for users.
Coordinates with the Command Security personnel to verify user's security clearance.
Provide required user documents to the LRA (Local Reginal Authority) for classified tokens.
Provide classified network Trusted authority training and submit the Command Designation Trusted Authority letter, completion certificates and required forms to the LRA for the Comms department
The Computer Operator monitors and operates the control console of either a mainframe digital computer or a group of minicomputers, in accordance with operating instructions, to process data. Work is characterized by the following: Studies operating instructions to determine equipment setup needed. Loads equipment with required items (tapes, cards, paper, etc.). Switches necessary auxiliary equipment into system; Diagnoses and corrects equipment malfunctions; Reviews error messages and makes corrections during operation or refers problems; Maintains operating record. This operator may test run new or modified programs and assists in modifying systems or programs. Included within the scope of this definition are fully qualified Computer Operators, trainees working to become fully qualified operators, and lead operators providing technical assistance to lower level positions. The Computer Operator III processes a range of scheduled routines. In addition to operating the system and resolving common error conditions, this worker diagnoses and acts on machine stoppage and error conditions not fully covered by existing procedures and guidelines (e.g., resetting switches and other controls or making mechanical adjustments to maintain or restore equipment operations). In response to computer output instructions or error conditions, the Computer Operator III may deviate from standard procedures if standard procedures do not provide a solution and refers problems which do not respond to corrective procedures to a person of supervisory or higher individual contributor level.
