As a direct report to the Deputy Chief Risk and Compliance Officer, the Compliance & Risk Manager oversees and directs a team with a variety of risk and compliance activities. The Compliance & Risk Manager's responsibilities include providing compliance advisory services to Investments and Benefits Divisions, managing compliance on-boarding of Investments and Benefits teams as required, enhance conflicts of interest monitoring, oversee third-party risk, lead risk assessment oversight and consultation, and manage personal trading monitoring.
Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide business partners in Investments and Benefits necessary advice and guidance on compliance and risk management topics including feedback and appropriate challenge on risk control self-assessments, mitigation plans and issues management.
  • Develop and implement compliance systems and tools to conduct necessary surveillance and monitoring of personal trading, ethics, disclosure laws, regulations and policies.
  • Direct comprehensive forensic analysis of the Investments and Benefits activities and employee transactions including various levels of investigation, research, and collaboration with the Legal Office to ensure compliance with the Regulations.
  • Develop and manage a robust conflict of interest review process (e.g., Compliance Control Room).
  • Facilitates compliance reviews on an ongoing review cycle to provide a compliance assessment of program policies, processes and functions.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) required
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in risk and compliance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with investment management, institutional investing, or asset management firms.
  • Demonstrated experience as a manager of people.
  • Experience performing data analysis to support internal risk assessments and control reviews.
  • Experience leading project or process improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal presentation and written communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills to effectively respond to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
  • Solid early problem recognition skills with the ability to identify and clearly communicate proactively.
  • Experience with managing multiple high-priority deliverables with attention to detail.
