Job Title: Recruiting Compliance and Cargo Claim Specialist

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Summary:

Coordinates and processes Cargo Claims between factories and accounting department. Ensures FMCSA, state, and local regulations for independent contractor files are compliant.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Include the following as well as other duties to be assigned.


  • Works in conjunction with terminal managers and factory warranty departments to resolve Cargo Claims.
  • Gathers and maintains files related to pertinent evidence, correspondence, and statements from all parties involved, including police reports, pictures, video, weather information, etc.
  • Evaluates damage estimates and invoices. Consults with Safety Director, Accountants, Terminal Managers, and/or General Manager to ascertain compensation amount.
  • Enters claims to be paid from OS&D or Motor Vehicle Accidents modules and uploads documents and photos. Submits them to accounts payable once complete for check request.
  • Pursues damages against at fault parties via phone calls, emails, faxes, mail, or other means.
  • Determines eligibility of independent contractors by assessing their previous employment, MVR, PSP, and Drug and Alcohol Clearing house.
  • Monitors driver licenses for any moving violations, motor vehicle accidents, suspensions, or cancellations, and expirations.
  • Maintains and protects Independent Contractor Commercial Driver files per FMCSR requirements, along with company file. Uploads documents into the TMS system.
  • Enters and updates owner-operator related information in TMS system; including but not limited to Unit Number, Driver & Payee information, Truck data, Pay cards, settlement deductions.
  • Track transport plates to ensure inventory is sufficient. Update inventory, contact BMV, and enter chargebacks for lost plates.

Qualifications:

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:


  • High School degree or G.E.D. - or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in Microsoft Office PowerPoint, Word, and Excel software. Must be able to adapt to new software when required.

  • Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
