We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated insurance professional to join our claims team. The BI Claims Specialist is responsible for providing superior customer service to insureds, agents, claimants and others that are encountered during general claim handling. This professional is responsible for onboarding of new clients, handling transportation liability claims, and conducting claim reviews. This is a highly visible position requiring significant business relations. RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage a case load of approximately 125 claims
Verify and determine applicability of coverage
Conduct timely and thorough investigations per company procedures
Review files on a timely diary for reserving adequacy and resolution plans
Evaluate and adjust claims within authority level
Attend mediations and trials as merited
Direct independent adjusters, appraisers and defense attorneys as necessary
Handle litigated claims, determine future course of handling and proper method of disposition
Assess recovery potential and obtain information required to successfully pursue
Meet with prospective customers to discuss claim capabilities; and meet with current customers for claim reviews
Responsible for providing superior customer service to all insureds, agents, and others encountered during the claims handling process
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 5 years of multi-state commercial claims experience
College degree is preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Some travel will be required for client visits, mediations and trials
Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of programs and an aptitude to learn new programs
Obtain and maintain required state licenses
Will abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, and to comply with DMC risk management controls
