The Companion Caregivers assists family members with providing care within the home and in the community. This includes relieving family members from basic self-help needs and other activities of daily living, including interaction, socialization, and continuation of daily routines that family members would ordinarily perform and/or facilitate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintains confidentiality of all clients
• Performs duties and procedures, as assigned/directed, in an accurate and timely manner
• Safeguards the client/patient by observing appropriate infection control procedures, including, but not limited to Universal Precautions
• Notifies the Company office of any abnormal findings or conditions
• Adheres to standards and procedures of the Company’s In-Home Respite Services
• Arrives at the client’s home on time, and leaves when shift schedule is complete
• Represents Companion Services with a positive image at all times
• Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability when meeting needs
• Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
• Education and experience in related duties preferred; childcare experience preferred.
• TB screening, if applicable
• Community CPR training and First Aid Training required (see Lanterman Act, Title 17)
• Strong telephone and communication skills
• Valid Driver’s license if required to drive
• May not be a parent, stepparent, or legal guardian of the consumer
• Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the
• English language may be required
• Computer proficiency required
