Job description

SUMMARY
$2,500 commitment bonus - The Community and School Based Behavioral Health Technician (CSBBH BHT) provides one-on-one interventions to a child or adolescent at home, school, daycare, YMCA, emergency room, other community based programs or community settings when the behavior without this intervention would require a more restrictive treatment or educational setting. The BHT reports directly to the CSBBH MT and/or BC. This position is full-time yearly position with benefits.
This position will provide and promote quality services with care and compassion to enhance the emotional well-being and mental health of children, adolescents, and families.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Assessment of strengths and therapeutic needs of child and family. Active listening, asking questions and exchanging information with child and family.
  2. Specifically, BHT services include crisis intervention techniques, immediate behavioral reinforcements, emotional support, time structuring activities, time-out strategies, and additional psychosocial rehabilitative activities as prescribed in the treatment plan.
  3. BHT services may be provided by more than one individual during a 24 hour period necessitating ongoing coordination of interventions among the individuals providing the support services.
  4. Specific interventions to stabilize the child or adolescent. Respond to Crisis as needed.
  5. Support of the family's efforts to stabilize the child or adolescent and to promote age appropriate behavior by working with the family.
  6. Collaborations with other members of the treatment team and other professional working in the home or in other community settings and participation in Inter-Agency Service Planning Meetings when possible.
  7. Staff will have rotating schedules allowing them to serve children and families during days, evenings, and weekends in school, home and community settings as needed.
  8. Behavioral Health Technicians (BHT) are expected to bill twenty (20) hours per week.
  9. Maintain routine reciprocal contact with PCP at required intervals.
  10. Assist child and family in locating and accessing community resources (MA, MATP, activities, support groups, etc.).
  11. The BHT's are able to participate as co-therapist in all family therapy sessions with the MT's and BC's.
  12. Establish a close, extended family like relationship with identified families as a unit.
  13. Ensure that all psychotherapeutic and case management goals will be link directly to the treatment plan, treatment plan reviews and case-notes.
  14. Attends weekly staff meetings.
  15. Participates in ongoing in-service training programs.
  16. Utilize NTC's Electronic Health Records (E.H.R.) during tenure of employment. Initial training and on-going training will be provided to employee by respective supervisor and/or assigned team member.
  17. Employee will be proficient in their job position within six (6) months. If at any time an employee feels they need more training/education, employee is to submit a request for such through their supervisor, manager, and/or director.
  18. Additional duties may be added as necessary to meet the needs of the facility.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  1. Have a bachelor's degree with at least two years of experience in a clinical setting; as well as:
  2. Required to meet one of the following:
  • Have a certification as a BCaBA.
  • Have a certification as an RBT.
  • Have a certification as a BCAT.
  • Have a behavior health certification or behavior analysis certification from an organization that is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies or the American National Standards Institute.
  • Have a high school diploma or the equivalent of a high school diploma and have completed a 40-hour training covering the RBT Task List as evidenced by a certification that includes the name of the responsible trainer, who is certified as a BCBA or BCaBA.

3. Criminal history checks and child abuse certification in accordance with 23 Pa.C.S. §§ 6301-6386 (relating to Child Protective Services Law) and 55 Pa.?Code Chapter 3490 (relating to protective services) required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  1. Must be able to travel if required.
  2. Position may/will require use of own vehicle.
  3. Current/Valid Driver's License.
  4. Sedentary work: duties require exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry push, and pull articles such as files and computer binders.
  5. Position requires occasional crisis intervention for protection of self and others; must pass Safe Crisis Management training both physical and theory. Upon hire and then annually as a condition of employment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  1. Works in well-lit office environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
  1. Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  2. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  1. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as payment reimbursements and payroll labor distributions.

REASONING ABILITY
  1. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
