The Community Safety Coordinator will be responsible for supporting Children’s Aid’s gun violence awareness initiative, hate crime prevention work and youth Community Safety programs and initiatives within the Youth Division. The Community Safety Coordinator will work under the direction of the Deputy Director of the Youth Division to implement the subsequent phases of the gun violence awareness initiative including managing the launch of the Peer cohort, coordination of all workshops and events in connection with the gun violence awareness initiative, and overseeing all activities under the Partner Against the Hate (PATH) grant.
Essential Duties:
- Work with the Deputy Director of the Youth Division to implement Phase III of the Gun Violence Awareness Initiative, and manage the following activities.
- Lead in the development pilot Peer curriculum.
- Launch the new series of workshops including Peer Program for Community Safety and coordinate content related trainings.
- Support coordination of strategic partnerships with providers who can support youth & staff training.
- Spearhead all activities under the Partners Against Hate (PATH) grant.
- Identify partners to obtain training around hate crime prevention education that will be incorporated into Peer and Staff trainings.
- Conduct focus groups with stakeholders to solicit feedback on content.
- Integrate PATH work within Phase II workshops and identify ancillary opportunities to incorporate hate crime education for youth and staff.
- Oversee peer social media campaigns around hate crime education and gun violence awareness events.
- Assist the Deputy Director of Youth in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with community organizations and other prospective partners to effectively carry out the Community Safety initiative strategy.
- Work closely with the Director of Strategic Impact and relevant teams on all data collection, outcomes, and grant deliverable tracking and reporting for initiative funding streams
- In-person collaboration is an essential function of the job.

- *Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree
- Strong project management skills
- 1-3 years of relevant experience working with youth
Key Competencies:
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft products, Google Suite and ability to learn other online platforms
- Remain positive and energetic while working with a high-needs population
- Willingness to work with a diverse academic, social-economic, and cultural population
- Comfort performing hands-on work as well as assisting in strategic planning projects.
