Community Resource Specialist

Salary $: Part Time, $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
Shift: Schedule consists of day turn shift Monday- Friday
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide educational outreach to EGCC students/staff regarding various behavioral health related topics, victimizations, and wellness. Including setting up informational table resources on campus
- Provide both face-to-face and virtual brief interventions at Eastern Gateway Community College (EGCC) to include providing emotional support and other assistance for students presenting with a variety of needs.
- Provide advocacy, information, and referrals to various community resources, as well as linkages.
- Promote and refer to the EGCC Care Center to help meet student needs.
- Demonstrate behavioral health and advocacy competencies, including a strength in working with trauma and victim supports.
- Demonstrate competencies in trauma-informed approaches, motivational interviewing, and crisis de-escalation.
- Assist students to become engaged in discussion and support groups.
- Assist students in developing and maintaining social support networks.
- Participate in trainings, in-services, campus outreach, and other activities (including recreational) as requested by EGCC, in which the goal is to support and assist students.
- Assure timely documentation of engagements, proper record keeping, and reporting to COMPASS, EGCC appointed staff, while abiding by all confidentiality considerations (HIPAA, FERPA, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in human services or like degree or experience is preferred.
- Case Management and public speaking experience encouraged.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience providing experience to students in a collegiate setting preferred.
- Must have working knowledge and experience in use of Microsoft Office products.
- Strong use and experience with electronic medical records systems i.e, Credible is beneficial.

Miscellaneous requirements: Criminal background check; Pre-employment drug screen; If applicable to the position requirements: Clear driving record; First Aid/CPR certification; Knowledge of various community resources; ability to work as part of an integrated team and willingness to work within the community; Will need to complete 40 hours of core competency training in advocacy as well as various behavioral health trainings.
