RockEDU Science Outreach represents the collective science engagement and research education efforts at The Rockefeller University. The RockEDU team works in collaboration with scientists, students, educators, and engagement professionals to produce programs and resources to promote science engagement. This includes efforts to support Rockefeller scientists as they navigate their own paths of professional growth in STEM. This work partially takes place through BIOME, a growing community to support inclusive mentorship education and research sharing. Additionally, the RockEDU Fellows program and related research education ecosystem, supports members of the scientific community in developing leadership, management, teaching, and mentorship skills through RockEDUs high school and undergraduate research programs. More specifically, RockEDU Fellows help carry out LAB Jumpstart, the Summer Science Research Program (SSRP), and our new initiatives for undergraduate research.
The RockEDU Community Program Coordinator will work closely with the RockEDU Community Manager and Program Manager for Research Education to support initiatives related to internal community development and research education through: 1) logistical and organizational support; 2) coordination of mentorship and education opportunities, both related to BIOME and the RockEDU Fellows program; and 3) assist with management of our teaching laboratories.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the day-to-day management of ongoing campus mentorship initiatives in BIOME and the RockEDU Fellows training program, including event coordination
- Laboratory organization and maintenance for both RockEDU teaching laboratories, including supplies inventory, equipment oversight, and general care of common lab spaces
- Setup and breakdown of experimental supplies needed for LAB Jumpstart, SSRP, and undergraduate programs.
- Maintenance of digital databases for program, supplies, and event management (primarily through AirTable, Google Docs, DropBox, and MS Office)
- Maintenance of program / event evaluation and assessment data, including the digitization of case studies for communicating outcomes
- Coordination of communications and resource sharing on digital community forums -- BIOME Slack community; RockEDU Fellows Discord Server; and related alumni networks
- Support in the creation and content management of program/event promotion and recruitment, including posting on social media channels, managing email campaigns, and assisting with RockEDU Online content management
- Document workflows for carrying out program and event logistics
- Liaise with Dean’s Office and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to synergize work together on campus
- Assist with broader team initiatives as needed
Required:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent work /experience) in science or related field required
- Must possess demonstrable skills in science communication, including social media management and an eye for effective visual communication
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
- Familiarity of softwares and digital platforms such as Google Drive, MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and AirTable is strongly desired
- We value strong organizational and multitasking skills, as well as close attention to detail
- Must be an outgoing self-starter and possess the ability to work efficiently, with discretion, tact, and flexibility, as part of a team
- Significant exposure to and understanding of aspects related to STEM research and/or education fields a plus

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to organizational budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
