About Us:
A 501(c)3 Nonprofit Organization, Black Entrepreneurs of the Flint Hills, is a community-based organization dedicated to supporting and empowering Black entrepreneurs in the Flint Hills region of Kansas and beyond. Our mission is to narrow the racial wealth gap by engaging, empowering, and equipping black and economically disadvantaged entrepreneurs to build sustainable enterprises and generational wealth through culturally competent business training, resources, technical assistance, and access to capital.
Job Summary:
As a Part-Time Community Program Coordinator Hybrid Position, you will play a vital role in facilitating and coordinating various projects and initiatives aimed at promoting the growth and success of Black entrepreneurs in the Flint Hills community. This position requires a proactive and community-oriented individual who is passionate about making a positive impact on local businesses.
This position requires some hours in our admin office located in downtown Manhattan, some travel mostly within Kansas and some work from home hours. Applicants must have a valid Driver’s License and vehicle. In addition applicants must have access to high-speed internet.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Coordination:
- Plan, organize, and coordinate Community Programs that support the goals and mission of the organization.
- Collaborate with local businesses, community leaders, and partner organizations to ensure successful project implementation.
2. Community Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Black entrepreneurs, community members, and stakeholders.
- Organize and attend community events to promote awareness of the organization's mission and connect with potential partners.
3. Capacity Building:
- Identify opportunities for capacity-building initiatives that enhance the skills and resources available to Black and economically-disadvantaged entrepreneurs.
- Implement training programs, workshops, and seminars to support professional development.
4. Resource Mobilization:
- Research and identify funding opportunities, grants, and sponsorships to support the organization's projects and activities.
- Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and maintain relationships with donors and funding agencies.
5. Communication:
- Assist to effectively communicate the organization's mission, goals, and achievements through various channels, including social media, newsletters, and press releases.
- Act as a spokesperson for the organization at community events and meetings when executive director cannot attend.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (business, community development, nonprofit management, etc.) or equivalent work experience.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of the local community and understanding of the challenges faced by Black and economically-disadvantaged entrepreneurs.
- Experience in event planning and community engagement.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse and dynamic environment.
