Position Description: The Meals on Wheels Program Assistant assists the VIA/RSVP Director with daily coordination of the Meals on Wheels program as well as assistance with Medical Transportation program and other office duties. This 12-month, part-time position is 18 hours a week with occasional holiday, weekend and evening hours required. Note: This position is either completely or partially grant funded. Employment contingent upon continued grant funding. Position Responsibilities: 44.00% - Coordinate the Meals on Wheels Program including recruiting volunteers, creating routes as needed and keeping route sheets up to date. Assess Meals on Wheels recipients as appropriate and required and keep accurate records. 16.00% - Supervise volunteers working on projects in the office including Meals on Wheels day to day activity. 10.00% - Maintain Volunteer Reporter database with current information on volunteers and volunteer stations. Keep hard copy volunteer files up to date. 10.00% - Answer telephone, take messages, greet visitors, order supplies, and perform other basic office duties as requested by director. 5.00% - Coordinate the Medical Transportation Program including taking applications for rides, matching volunteer drivers to passengers, keeping accurate records for entities that provide program funding and other duties as needed. 5.00% - Assist director with planning and implementation of volunteer recruitment activities, public relation activities and recognition activities. 5.00% - Coordinate placement of volunteers with requests for volunteers from community partners. 5.00% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned. To demonstrate commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice, as well as personal and professional integrity. To make every effort to assist consumers that contact RSVP by either providing direct assistance or by accurate referral to another source. To schedule and organize work to meet established deadlines in an accurate and timely manner. To maintain a professional, courteous and friendly atmosphere in the office. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience - Six months to two years of similar or related experience.
Education - A high school education or GED. Interpersonal Skills - Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation. Other Skills - Good office management skills and the ability to perform required functions with minimal supervision. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines and maintain confidentiality. Ability to communicate well, both oral and written. Computer experience with Microsoft Office. Ability to speak to groups and individuals. Self starter. Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office or classroom. Wages/Other: The hourly rate for this position is $8.40.Check out the Benefits this position offers!
