Job Description
Position purpose:
The CILA (Community Integrated Living Arrangement) mental health clinician position functions as a clinical member of a multidisciplinary service team that provides mental health treatment for individuals with a severe persistent mental illness within their homes. The two CILA homes provide behavioral health and support services 24 hours a day/7 days per week.
This position provides mental health rehabilitation services and supports adults and families to decrease hospitalization and crisis episodes and to increase community functioning in order for the client to achieve rehabilitative, resiliency and recovery goals. Provide continuity of program services in an ethical, legal and moral manner within a safe and therapeutic environment, consistent with applicable regulatory and accreditation standards. Participate as a team member in the delivery of mental health services to clients and their families and facilitate the issues of recovery into their daily living situations.
The ideal team member would be able to:
- Work independently while having an open and effective line of communication with the team.
- Perform or learn to perform de-escalation techniques.
- Plan outings for clients independently.
- Change their approach to teaching based on the client's personality.
- Maintain patience to teach a client how to do something instead of for them.

- Forget any preconceived notions of what mental illness looks like
Shift: Tuesday - Saturday 10a-6p
Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work or another related field.
- Must qualify as an MHP per IL Dept. of Mental Health Rule 132
- Minimum one year of mental health experience
- A valid driver’s license and automobile insurance are required.
- Excellent organizational skill and computer skills
- Self-starter with ability to work independently and alone.
- Belief in the mission and vision of Rosecrance
Essential Responsibilities:
- Work hours prescribed and any additional hours deemed necessary for the responsibilities assigned.
- Ability to assess, diagnosis in completion of mental health assessments and service plans for functional limitations and develop plan for reducing these limitations. Use a holistic approach for recovery
- Provide clients with crisis intervention services when needed
- Assist the CILA home staff, including orientation, training, and/or feedback
- Assist in ensuring adequate coverage of units at all times
- Provide treatment programming and services utilizing a variety of treatment concepts, evidence based practices and service modalities when providing care
- Assist in coordinating medical services
- Ensure that client service records are maintained consistent with rules and regulations and fidelity
- Ability to work with person’s from diverse backgrounds, personalities and skills to adapt verbal and written communication to the language style of the client and their family
- Use effective crisis intervention approaches to reduce the impact of increased symptoms on the client
- Ability to coordinate services from a variety of community resources
- Participate in Community Behavioral Health On-call coverage on a rotating basis
- Provide leadership by demonstrating self-motivation, seeking improved performance, problem solving while meeting the complex needs of staff and consumers.
- Ensure- All State Regulations and Rosecrance Policy and Procedures are maintained. Complete all necessary monthly and quarterly reports by appropriate time lines.
- Exercise confidentiality in keeping with the Code of Ethics and with the framework of the law.
- Serve as a role model for other staff, patients and customers and demonstrate positive guest relations in representing Rosecrance while consistently delivering exceptional customer service.
- Work scheduled hours and any additional hours deemed necessary by leadership. Some variation in scheduled hours may be required to meet company needs.
- Ability to motivate and problem solve with staff regarding effective clinical practices.
- Ability to be self-motived, seek improved performance, problem solving while meeting the complex needs of the clients and their families.
- Adapt verbal and written communication to the language and style of the client and their family.
- Complete all necessary documentation with in the appropriate time lines.
- Undertake primary case management responsibilities for designated clients.
- Provide crisis intervention services and medication monitoring as necessary.
- Conduct individual, group, and family sessions for clients and/or family members.
- Ensure that client service records are maintained consistent with regulations.
- Maintain communications with all staff (e.g. admissions, process, and discharge plans).
- Ability to coordinate services from a variety of community resources
- Utilize a variety of treatment concepts, evidence based practices and service modalities when providing care.
- Participate in on-call rotation as required.
- Present workshops, lectures and training to clients, families, staff and community groups as needed.
- Familiar with court proceedings and available to make court appearances on behalf of Rosecrance clients.
