Community Health Educator/Tobacco Cessation Specialist

Gulfcoast North Area Health Education Center, Inc. (GNAHEC) is hiring a Tobacco Cessation Specialist (TCS) that will plan, conduct and evaluate tobacco cessation classes within our 5 county service area (Citrus, Hernando, Hillsborough, Pasco & Pinellas Counties). This position will be specifically coordinating tobacco cessation classes and trainings in Pinellas County. The TCS will promote tobacco cessation services to consumers and tobacco training programs to health care providers. The Tobacco Cessation Specialist (TCS) will oversee efforts to provide GNAHEC’s tobacco cessation services to health care providers, area employers and consumers.

The preferred candidate should have a Master’s Degree in health/public health, social work, counseling or mental health related field with 2 years of relevant experience. Candidates with a Bachelors degree and significant experience in working with clients in behavioral health, tobacco prevention and cessation and health promotion will also be considered. The candidate must have experience in marketing, public relations, group facilitation and coaching/counseling. The candidate must possess excellent communication, organization and planning skills. Knowledge and/or experience in strategic planning, adult education, and multicultural settings are essential. Proficiency in word processing, database management, PowerPoint and online technologies is highly desirable. Bilingual skills are a plus. This position involves travel throughout GNAHEC's service area, so reliable transportation and a valid Florida driver's license are required. This position is consider Hybrid and the candidate will be coordinating tobacco program activities in Pinellas County.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
