- Support planning and coordination of a program and its activities.
- Works with director to determine current needs for program.
- Ensure implementation of policies and procedures.
- Maintain budget and track expenditures/transactions.
- Manage communication through media relations, social media, etc
- Schedule and organize meetings/events and maintain agenda.
- Support growth and program development.
- 1-2 years of experience working with Community Gardens, urban farms, or in other horticultural setting
- Master Gardener certification or interest in obtaining certification
- Participating in Gardening & Youth gardening
- Deliver a highly interactive experience to group of youth participants in the program and create an experience that promotes higher education, personal goals, academic skills, and leadership
- Organize and lead a variety of stimulating activities appropriate for youth with a positive and enthusiastic manner.
- Provide safe conditions for the children and refrain from engaging in activities that may be hazardous or negligent to the wellbeing of the children.
- Supervise children at all times and be responsible for assertive discipline procedures.
- Responsible for all aspects of customer service – including greeting parents, handling questions and staying informed on program activities.
- General upkeep of Community Garden (greenhouse seeding and propagation, sowing and transplanting, preparing plots for planting, crop cultivation and maintenance, disease and pest control, harvesting)
- Excellent planning and organizational skills, including the agility to plan events and organize volunteers.
- Teach gardening concepts to volunteers and program participants as needed

- College Degree in related field or equivalent preferred.
- One to two years related experience preferred, as a coordinator of people or related activity.
- Ability to use typical business software and office equipment.
- Understanding of the role of volunteerism within the YMCA.
- Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
