Community Development Technician II-Housing and Federal Grants
This is a two (2) year fixed term position that may be extended if funding continues. The CDA Tech II in this assignment will perform a variety of specialized administrative tasks for the Housing and Federal Grants program. The program supports healthy, safe and sustainable communities through their work in affordable housing policy and development and grants with community-based organizations that serve low-income Marin residents. Duties for the CDA Tech II will include:
- Drafting and processing contracts, board letters and correspondence
- Tracking project documentation and establishing and maintaining project files
- Assisting with outreach and community engagement efforts by scheduling meetings, publishing notices, updating applicable websites, and developing surveys.
- Responding to routine program related questions from the public
- Working with the County GIS team to update information on the County's GIS system.
- Collecting, tabulating, and analyzing data to track program progress and success.
- Tracking and verifying accuracy of grant project balances
- Data management using a variety of systems
- May attend board meetings and work sessions and take meeting minutes.
Bilingual Certification: Successful candidates must demonstrate proficiency in Spanish/ English to be eligible for an additional 5% pay differential. A bilingual proficiency exam will be administered to ensure the candidate possesses the appropriate skill level to meet the requirements of the position.
Community Development Technician II-Current Planning
With an emphasis on customer service, the Community Development Technician II performs a variety of specialized technical work to support the review of building permits and planning permits. Duties include verifying completeness and accuracy of applications, tracking the progress of applications routed to other divisions and County departments, conducting permit history research, and reviewing minor building and planning permits. Additionally, the Community Development Tech II educates applicants about the permit process, explains general to moderately complex permitting policies and procedures, and determines and collects fees.
The ideal candidate: has exceptional customer service skills and is able to effectively communicate and explain program requirements and concepts to a diverse client population. This individual has public counter experience assisting customers with processing permits and/or coordinating plan reviews, has the ability to read construction plans and has worked with public agency permitting software. College level coursework in a field related to the work is highly desirable.We recognize your time is valuable, so please note that you must have at least the following required Minimum Qualifications in order to be considered for this position:
One year of experience as a Community Development Technician I or equivalent to four years of administrative support experience in a related environment such as planning, engineering, land development, environmental management, construction or public works providing technical information to the public and assistance to professional staff and which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge and abilities.
