FFT Community Based Therapist

Do you have a passion for working with children and families? South Community is looking for compassionate, dedicated individuals who want to empower youth and families by creating strength-based behavior change that will be sustained long after treatment ends. You will receive ongoing training in the Functional Family Therapy (FFT) model as you work with families, youth, their communities, and other key members of their ecology to implement FFT as designed. This rewarding job involves providing community-Based Family therapy working with adolescents involved in the Juvenile Court System, who have either a Mental Health or Substance Abuse Disorder. Extensive research has proven the effectiveness of the FFT. You will empower families to address challenging and/or problematic behaviors and to help youth aged 10 – 18, and their families, make life-transforming changes. Treatment progress is made through intensive interventions such as family therapy, skill building, and generalizing change within families to name a few.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide direct clinical treatment using the FFT treatment model and principles. Some principles include leveraging strengths and focusing on the positive, interrupting blame and negativity in family meetings, and changing focus and reframing as necessary to name a few.
• Use FFT phases to utilize specific skills and achieve goals.
• Comfort working with a diverse community of clients
• Knowledge of the types of families in the community
• Continuously work to engage the primary caregiver, family members, supports, and community agency staff in change-oriented treatment.
• Dedicate time to weekly case planning and evaluation of case progress, with ongoing support from your supervisor and team members.
• Receive regular training, professional development, supervision, and consultation activities designed to help you acquire extensive clinical skills within the FFT treatment model.
Minimum qualifications are a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in mental health, social work or related field and current Ohio license from Ohio CSWMFT Board, Independent Licensure preferred. Access to an operational vehicle, automobile insurance ($100,000/$300,000 liability coverage) and a valid driver’s license is required. Must be able to pass a background check, motor vehicle check and drug test. Must maintain a current NPI number. Due to the specialized nature of the program, this position has an enhanced pay scale.
