Responsibilities
Peraton seeks a Communications Specialist, Lead Associate to join the Corporate Communications & Engagement team in Reston, Virginia. Reporting to the Corporate Communications manager, this role is responsible for creating communications that effectively describe and promote the organization's people and programs. The Communications Specialist will also prepare intranet articles and other communications presentations; develop coordinated communication plans to support and highlight efforts and teams across the company for our intranet; analyze the effectiveness of these efforts; and collaborate with other departments and outside vendors in the content and design of the organization's intranet.
- Hybrid/Remote work available. Must be willing to travel up to 25%, if not local to the Reston area.
Responsibilities
- Write short feature and informational stories for our company intranet; create products including intranet stories, FAQs, PowerPoints, how-to items.
- Edit copy according to style (AP and Peraton).
- Research and develop content on multiple company areas.
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders and teams at all levels of the organization, with the ability to work as a positive team member on all Corporate Communications campaigns, projects, and tasks.
- Translate tech jargon to everyday, digestible language. Ability to explain difficult or sensitive information; work to build consensus among subject matter experts and team members.
- Proactively work on complex problems, think critically, and provide innovative solutions. Solid understanding of what needs to be accomplished to successfully integrate communications with an eye toward suggesting new options for communication channels, cross-area promotions, processes, and solutions.
- Have comfort and confidence working with technical specialists and leaders; work with the small and larger team to coordinate unified efforts for promotions and focus areas.
- Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience; may lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements.
- Working understanding of Corporate Communications & Engagement organization's policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Required
- 4-year degree from an accredited university in communications, marketing, or related field. Experience in lieu of education will be considered.
- 5 years of communications experience, demonstrating career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance.
- Experience in internal communications promoting executive and team messages.
- Ability to work under deadline pressure on both short- and long-term efforts.
- Experience using multiple communication channels, marketing, project management, tools, and platforms (e.g., Adobe, Microsoft suite, Trello, SharePoint) or similar.
- Experience working in cross-collaborative and team environments.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to work with subject matter experts, leaders, and team members.
- Thinks big and can bring ideas to fruition.
- Ideally, local to the Northern Virginia area; if 100% remote and not local to the Reston area, must be willing to travel up to 25%.

Target Salary Range
$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
