SalaryLynker is seeking a full-time Communications Specialist to support NOAA. This position will be responsible for content development for NOAA websites, social media accounts, and internal and external communications products. The Communications Specialist will work with NOAA communications staff and leadership, other NOAA offices, and partners to develop content and tools that reflect the program's communication needs and priorities.
The Communications Specialist responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work with the communication director to implement outreach activities. Gather initial information for use in said plans.
- Coordinate projects among various communication department components (graphic design, editing, story writing, website development, etc)
- Write social media posts for Facebook and Twitter.
- Maintain Fast Facts and create new ones as directed.
- In conjunction with communications director and project teams, produce several newsletters (fellowship; communications; digital coast; weekly news)
- Perform editing duties as assigned.
- Maintain slide templates and canned slide shows; provide slide editing services.
- Create exhibits and other speciality products as directed.
The Ideal Communications Specialist Will Have the Following Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in related field plus an additional 5 years of documented, relevant professional experience required or Master's degree plus 1 year of relevant experience.
Excellent writing, editing, communication and collaboration skills.
Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, shift priorities as needed, and work productively in a fast-paced, team environment.
Demonstrated attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Knowledge of NOAA programs and operations, coastal science, or coastal management topic area expertise preferred.
Experience with the suite of Google collaborative tools, MS Word, and PowerPoint are a plus, as well as familiarity with social media apps and web and social media analytics.
Ability to pass a National Agency Check (NACI), including fingerprinting, and maintain it throughout the duration of employment
