We are seeking a Communications Manager to support our government customer at Johnson Space Flight Center in Houston, TX. This is a hybrid role that will require some on-site work when needed. If requested, the Communication Strategist must be available to travel, and work nights, holidays, and weekends.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee and manage NASA exhibitions, multi-center / multi-state
- Oversee planning and execution of events in coordination with NASA personnel and requesting organizations
- Plan, organize, staff, and execute activities that support outreach efforts (planning, coordinating, and executing, school visits, special tours, exhibits, demonstrations, and speaking engagements)
- Develop outreach event plans
- Handle multiple and complex projects simultaneously under tight timelines and changing priorities
- Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks
- May direct, guide, and coordinate activities of a team/teams of technical personnel performing complex activities in a supervisor role
- Directly supervise NCS employees
- Provide operational, information management, and administrative support for all events
- Coordinate and support event leads, and track project objectives and milestones
- Provide all necessary project management and support functions
- Maintain long-range calendars and coordinate with event coordinators to ensure event milestones are complete
- Establish and maintain relationships with appropriate NASA stakeholders, event and exhibit staff, and across functional areas
- Manage deliverables and ensure quality assurance standards are met across functional requirements
- Monitor and recommend emerging communications channels and practices
- Generate routing and/or ad-hoc reports
REQUIREMENTS
- Eligible for a government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is required)
- Bachelor's degree in appropriate area of specialization from an accredited college or university
- Must have 15 years of relevant experience (e.g., event coordination/planning on a regional, multi-state, and/or national level)
- Advanced oral and written communication, including writing and editing
- Advanced problem-solving skills
- Ability to bring unique ideas and find efficiencies
- Experience with CAD, event & exhibit design (preferred)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described herein are representative of those which may need to be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Employees must possess the ability to work in an office environment. If required, employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time to visit other company sites. Must have hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. This position may require an employee to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance, reach, push, and pull. The employee may also be required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
