Position Description
Will provide services to assist ARL staff scientists in information, training, and other outreach activities in support of the environmental modeling and measurement activities, including website content management and design; slide design and production; oversight and production of brochures and other forms of information; development and management of training workshops; and preparation of briefing materials. Specific duties include:
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with organizations within and outside of NOAA for the purpose of receiving and disseminating scientific information.
- Supporting senior leadership in developing and managing strong partnerships with federal, state, and local agencies to identify specific community needs.
- Designing, developing, managing and maintaining the content of the ARL website.
- Orchestrating the Scientific Paper Review Process. Following ARL's procedure for paper reviews. Disseminating important scientific results through news and /or social media. Reporting papers for the Public Access to Research Results (PARR) system.
- Maintaining lab communication through the ARL weekly report, OAR weekly report and the Quarterly Activity Report.
- Updating and maintaining ARL's portion of OAR's Annual Operating Plan (AOP). Participating in AOP Refresh conference calls.
- Updating and maintaining the NOAA R&D Database (formerly called Project Database and Management System.
Required Skills
- 10+ years of communication and Outreach, preferably in a science environment
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be detail oriented and have excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience with Adobe, Canva, or similar graphic design tools
- Proven experience with website content management and design
- Graphic design experience to include slide design and production, oversight and production of brochures and other forms of information, and preparation of briefing materials
- Experience with development and management of training workshops desired
Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility.
Education
BS in Communications, related discipline, or equivalent.
Location
Up to 2 days/week of in-office work may be required. On-site work will be performed at NOAA's College Park Facility.
