JOB TITLE:
Communications Specialist/Community Liaison
QUALIFICATIONS:
BA Degree (Communications, Marketing, Education or related field preferred)
Prior successful job-related experience in communications, marketing or journalism
Portfolio: Recent samples to demonstrate job experience and ability to perform job requirements (newsletters, written articles, graphic designs, etc.)
REPORTS TO:
Director of Marketing and Communications
JOB GOAL:
Supports the communication and marketing efforts of the district.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Demonstrates excellent Associated Press writing skills for creating news releases, newsletters, student and staff features, website headlines and other educational articles.
2. Serves as community liaison with neighborhood associations and other key organizations throughout the TPSD zoned areas.
3. Creates new community campaigns, seminars and work sessions to bridge the gap between the community and school district.
4. Works with the THS/TMS journalism teams to create personalized content for district-related events.
5. Assists creative and marketing team with new football/soccer/track video board.
6. From a marketing standpoint, initiates new revenue opportunities for the district.
7. Assists with the planning, production and distribution of district publications, internal and external.
8. Devises partnerships with local businesses for school- or sport-related opportunities.
9. Assists in the creation and development of high-quality videos for recruitment, educational and promotional purposes.
10. Works with media (billboard, print, radio, and television) to provide information and to promote a good relationship between the schools and the media, and to promote a positive image for the district.
11. Serves as camp coordinator for the summer and creates new camps during the school year.
12. Creates marketing and research campaigns for each of the 12 schools, as well as the district.
13. Coordinates district-level web page updates and uploads data to district web page.
14. Serves as coordinator of each of the 13 individual school websites.
15. Represents the district as person of contact for the website (FinalSite) and surveys (Verint).
16. Oversees the compliance of the website with Monsido.
17. Orders promotion-related material, including promotional items, brochures, flyers and all print related material.
18. Helps create yearly budget with a fiscal responsibility.
19. Created promotional graphics using Adobe Spark.
20. Assists with mailings and other distribution of district-level publications.
21. Assists with the creation of InDesign, Adobe and Microsoft PowerPoint presentations for various projects.
22. Oversees recognition programs of retirees and years of service.

  3. Produces monthly photo stories for all schools to use on their
  4. Produce updated videos for each school at least once every two months to use for the website and or any communications needs for the
  5. Serves as point of contact for school resources
  6. Produces updated photos and videos for athletics
  7. Help in advertising campaigns with radio stations, TV, billboards and
  8. Build creative radio commercials for various
  9. Help in the designs of any media needed for the
  10. Producing photos/videos for TPSD events from parents/students perspective that could be an outreach tool.
  11. Create graphics and info graphics as needed
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED ABILITIES:
  1. Exceptional organizational skill including planning and time-management
  2. Ability to perform secretarial and administrative assistance
  3. Prepares reports by gathering and organizing data from a variety of
  4. Communicates effectively both orally and in writing; writes news release utilizing existing formats.
  5. Knowledge of area business and contacts for
  6. Operates computer programs such as word processing database and/or e-mail
  7. Detailed knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, Excel and Adobe
  8. Demonstrate excellent English, verbal and written language
  9. Works independently.
  10. Performs and prioritizes completion of multiple projects and assigns
  11. Researches, reviews, checks, corrects, and compiles a variety of information; verifies data for accuracy.
  12. Expertise in script writing, camera operations, non-linear video editing, WeTransfer procedures, and other necessary production
  13. Be able to complete tasks by assigned deadlines and work in stressful

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve months, full time employee (240 day full time employee)

Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services personnel.
