SalaryThe Commerce Content Assistant will optimize shopping and partner content. This role will work within our CMS and closely with our partnership and experimentation teams as they update and format e-Commerce Content and oversee the editing of any sponsored placements. The position is remote.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Edit and proofread internal Commerce Content and update existing internal Commerce Content ensuring all content adheres to commerce standards.
- Conduct category research based on content calendar
- Fact-check, copyedit and format articles.
- Routinely create and/or update affiliate links to commerce internal content.
- Find appropriate interlinking opportunities within Commerce content and overall McClatchy content to strengthen content.
- Conduct research based on topic and category.
- Perform a variety of administrative tasks supporting the work of the internal content team.
- Occasionally write short-form commerce articles.
- Experience working within content management systems and CMS production.
- A strong understanding of News ethics when it comes to e-Commerce Content.
- Understand priorities when there are several projects in process.
Experiencecreating links in affiliate platforms like Impact, CJ, Amazon Affiliate etc. a plus.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- Proven experience in eCommerce editing or content creation within a media or retail environment.
- Understanding of SEO principles and experience implementing SEO strategies.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with a keen eye for detail and brand consistency.
- Familiarity with eCommerce platforms and content management systems.
- Proficiency in using analytics tools to measure content performance.
- Creativity and innovation in developing engaging and informative content.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- An understanding of audience trends and digital media. Ability to correctly identify audiences for selected stories.
- Understanding of how to use analytics such as subscriber conversion, page views, time on site and referral sources to help determine which stories resonate with which audiences.
- Ability to prioritize and to work under and meet short- and long-deadlines in a fast-paced, data-driven work environment and to accurately fact-check information
- Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and team player skills. Excellent communication and active listening skills.
- Ability to work well, be professional and courteous with a variety of editors, staff at all levels, and the public.
- Computer proficiency (MS Office, Digital editing, web search, databases)
- Ability to work a flex schedule including nights and weekends
- Must be able to work remotely while contributing to a team environment
- Regular and reliable attendance.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; preferably in marketing, or the equivalent education, experience, skills and knowledge needed to perform the tasks and responsibilities of the position.
1-2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum qualifications: Include minimum work experience desired, years of experience in field or in comparable fields; educational requirements and/or certifications and licenses; supervisory experience needed; computer skills; and desired work traits (ability to work independently, etc.).
