As a Collector III, you specialize in servicing delinquent Real Estate products to bring accounts to a positive standing, including, first mortgages, home equity loans, and home equity lines of credit, and another specialized handling. You take pride in providing exceptional member experiences by negotiating solutions that benefit both the member and the credit union.
A typical week might include the following...
Real Estate - Gathers information from mortgagors pertaining to reasons for delinquencies, including financial analysis of their income, tax liabilities, monthly obligations, and any other information which would enable collections to make necessary decisions to help cure the delinquency. Maintain knowledge of various regulatory requirements from agencies such as NCUA, FDCPA, CFPB, and/or applicable credit union guidelines. Work closely with Loss Mitigation on mortgage loans that are eligible for foreclosure prevention options.
Collections - Handle inbound and outbound collection calls, collateral repossession/remarketing, collateral recovery/ foreclosures to provide member assistance as appropriate based on the status of the member’s account(s). Negotiate payments while evaluating the members’ financial situation to provide solutions based on individual needs. Confirm all member information is accurate and complete. Ensure NOPS is sent after repossessions and collateral is transported to the auction. Work with auction vendor to review and set floor prices, and ensure re-marketing data is updated in the system of record upon sale.
Bankruptcy – Responsible for maintaining all bankruptcy queues regarding Real Estate to ensure all required policies, procedures, and time-sensitive requirements are met. Maintaining appropriate communication with attorneys and trustees (if applicable). Stay informed of all new and revised bankruptcy regulations.
Problem Resolution - Perform key activities that are proven to cure delinquency (i.e. Loss Mitigation Referrals and early intervention solicitations, Repayment Plans, and Re-ages). Meet or exceed production and performance goals while using a member solutions approach to cure the delinquency.
Collaborate, communicate, and respond to internal stakeholders, external clients/vendors, and members to ensure an exceptional member experience. Provide guidance and coaching to members regarding the importance of maintaining account(s) in good standing thereby reducing risk and fostering potential membership growth. Assist with Collector I and II responsibilities once tasks are completed.

High School Diploma or GED
4+ years of Real estate and consumer loan collection experience.
4+ years of Collections experience with a focus on advanced stages of delinquency and bankruptcy knowledge.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
FDCPA, CFPB, NCUA experience/knowledge; Experience navigating and researching in Country Recorder and Assessor sites.
Bonus points if you have...
2+ years of Knowledge of Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
