Cold Storage Foreman

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Oversee production to attain the most efficient, cost effective operation.
• Supervise production leads and processing employees on and off the line.
• Ensure full and proper training of leads and processing employees.
• Maintain consistent written and electronic documentation on employee performance.
• Maintain a safe and sanitary working environment and oversee the safe use of equipment.
• Ensure the production of a quality product.
• Maintain consistently accurate inventories and production data using Innova software.
• Work harmoniously with other members of the plant and office staff.
• Other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Applicants should be ambitious with a strong interest in the seafood industry and commit to more than one year.
• Minimum of two years successful supervisory experience in a salmon fillet and H and G production environment.
• Experience using Innova production inventory and tracking software is a huge plus.
• Effective verbal, written communication and organizational skills required.
• Must be flexible, show initiative and follow-through.
• Able to work well under pressure, 12 or more hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Must be able to live and work in remote location.
• Must be conscientious about seafood quality and good manufacturing practices.
• Must be able to work with multiple departments with conflicting priorities.

COMPENSATION:

• Pay rate depends on experience. This is an hourly position that is eligible for overtime pay. In Alaska, overtime is one and one-half times the regular hourly rate and is paid for hours worked over 8 hours in a day and after 40 hours are worked in a week.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Working Conditions and Physical Effort: 

• Work involves daily exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, extreme temperatures, humidity, darkness, and/or noise. 
• Work environment involves daily exposure to physical risks, such as working around mechanical, chemical, and electrical hazards. 
• Position requires the ability to stand, sit at a desk, walking around office and plant, lifting, and carrying packages up to 50 pounds, utilizing fine dexterity. Requires reaching, kneeling, crawling, and twisting to inspect equipment. Also requires the ability to see, Hear, and communicate with associates as well as others by utilizing professional etiquette. 
• Personal protective equipment, as defined by OBI Seafoods, will be provided. 
• Position will be exposed to different levels of stress and responsibilities.
