Role and Responsibilities: As the Head Coffee Roaster at Souvenir Coffee, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our coffee offerings and leading our roasting team. Your responsibilities will include:

• Roasting Expertise: Utilize your deep understanding of coffee beans, roast profiles, and flavor development to create roasts that showcase the unique qualities of each origin.
• Team Leadership: Lead, inspire, and mentor a team of skilled roasters, ensuring consistency and quality in every batch roasted.
• Green Coffee Purchasing: Sample and procure fine specialty coffees for the best value possible while sticking to our coffee program plans.
• Quality Control: Conduct regular cupping sessions to assess coffee quality, refine roast profiles, and maintain our high standards.
• Innovation: Collaborate with our sourcing team to discover new coffee origins and experiment with innovative roasting techniques.
• Equipment Management: Oversee the maintenance and calibration of roasting equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
• Sustainability: Uphold our commitment to ethical and sustainable sourcing practices, both in coffee procurement and roasting operations.
• Training: Provide ongoing training and development for the roasting team, fostering a culture of continuous learning.

**If you are looking for full-time employment, we do have other coffee shop manager/supervisor work as well, including training our barista staff on all offerings and equipment.**

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in coffee roasting, with a strong portfolio showcasing your ability to create outstanding roast profiles.
• Leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and guide a team toward excellence.
• Advanced sensory skills and a refined palate to discern and evaluate complex coffee flavors.
• In-depth knowledge of coffee origins, processing methods, and their impact on flavor.
• Familiarity with various roasting equipment and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time efficiently.
• Enthusiasm for sustainable and ethical practices within the coffee industry.
• Adaptability in a fast-paced environment and a willingness to embrace innovation.
